Rhythm & Rhythmic Displacement
When applying a step-skip pattern and approach-escape tones to the structure you will also use a rhythmic pattern.
A rhythmic pattern is just a simple rhythmic figure that will repeat over an over until the pattern finishes.
Note that the rhythmic pattern does not have to match the amount of notes in the pattern . This allows the creation of interesting hemiolas .
Enable the Triple Meter check box if you want to subdivide the beat in three (when you want to create triplet patterns, and such)
In Tessitura you may also add a rhythmic displacement . Instead of starting the pattern right on the first beat, you may start it before as a pickup line or delay it by adding a rest before you start.
This is called rhythmic displacement where the rhythm you are playing is displaced against the beat, creating interesting tension and release pattern over time.
i.e. start the pattern one eighth note before the first beat by setting the Rhythmic Displacement slider an eighth note to the left.
Choose the Time Signature you want to use in the Preferences panel . The Metronome will play clicks based on the time signature
